The 2012 DG Best Practice Award Recognizes Express Scripts

The Data Governance Best Practice Award, sponsored by DebTech International, TDAN.com and DATAVERSITY is given to an organization in recognition of the business value and technical excellence they have achieved in the design and implementation of an outstanding data governance program. Submissions for the 2012 award were received from organizations from all over the world.

Chairman of the Judging Panel, Robert S. Seiner, Publisher of TDAN.com and President & Principal of KIK Consulting & Educational Services said, “The process to identify a single winner this year was more difficult than other years. The quality of the entries was consistently high from top to bottom. The support that governance receives throughout Express Scripts including the active involvement of Senior Management demonstrates a commitment to improvement rarely represented in any industry. This factor played a large role in selecting Express Scripts as the winner.”

Additional finalists for the award were ConAgra Foods, LDS Church and Lexmark.

Each submission was judged on responses to the following:

  • Business requirements for Data Governance at their organization.
  • The approach used to define, develop and deliver their Data Governance Program.
  • The length of time the solution has been in place and the incremental steps taken.
  • The scale of the solution (i.e. enterprise, business unit) and whether this will change.
  • The overall business impact/benefits from Data Governance and return on objective.
  • The measurable return on investment and how the measures are used.
  • The population and breadth of business and technical community being served by the Program.
  • The innovative uses of the Data Governance Program and the problems that have been solved.

The award will be formally presented at the Data Governance and Information Quality Conference on June 26, 2012 in San Diego, CA.
