DAMA International is a not-for-profit, vendor independent association of technical and business professionals, dedicated to advancing the concepts and practices for data resource management and enterprise information. The primary purpose of DAMA International is to promote the understanding, development and practice of managing data and information to support business strategies. DAMA International has chapters and members throughout the world.

Their inaugural meeting was in April and subsequent meetings are being planned. Their President is Eric S. Ackerman, Ph.D., Assistant Dean and Director of Graduate Programs Nova Southeastern University - Graduate School of Computer and Information Sciences. DAMA Chapter Presidents convened on March 14th in San Francisco before the opening of the Enterprise Data World Conference. Representatives from the Global, London, Chicago, Dallas, Minnesota, Philadelphia, San Francisco, South Africa, Rocky Mountain, and National Capital Regions were present. The meeting included conversations regarding internal DAMA chapter communications as well as upcoming trends and topics. The following list of topics was identified as continuing to be "hot" and worthy of additional local program attention by the chapters present:
As a tactical response to the need for more intra-chapter communication, the VP of Communications proposed leveraging LinkedIn. Chapter officers must request approval by providing their chapter name, their title, and their end of term in office date. DAMA Community Award – Deborah Henderson Government Achievement Award – Kevin Kirby, EPA Professional Achievement Award – Alec Sharp Professional Development At EDW, a total of 110 exams were given, and 32 attendees attained the CDMP credential at this conference!
