The Nigeria chapter held its first meeting on September 19 and is in the process of working on strategy and formation as well as electing officers. DAMA Indiana is having its first official meeting on October 21 which will feature a presentation by Ron Ross on “How to Coax Semantics into Your Data Models.” DAMA Indiana will be meeting in Indianapolis for their inaugural meeting and have more than 60 people registered at this writing. In addition, one local University’s Information Technology class is attending, giving students a chance to meet data professionals and learn firsthand what types of positions are available to them when they graduate. The Indiana chapter was formed after a “DAMA Connection” event was held in Indianapolis sponsored by DAMA International. DAMA International initiated these one-day seminars allow people to network with colleagues, listen to recognized speakers, and learn more about the recently published DAMA-DMBOK (Guide to the Data Management Body of Knowledge).
